Hi everyone, I’m Pip and I own and run Rural Collection from our base in rural Somerset. I love the great British countryside and our busy family life here. I grew up in Dorset and spent many years working in rural and equestrian businesses before meeting my husband, moving to Somerset and starting a family. In juggling work, a home refurbishment and a growing family the seeds of the idea for starting my own business were sown.

Fast forward a year or so and with the support of a small family team, my business, Rural Collection has become a reality. The name P.O.S.H Country (P.O.S.H being the acronym for the sailing term Port Out, Starboard Home – a classic British saying) is the perfect name to unite the country and coast.

I live in rural Wiltshire, the daughter of a dairy farmer and, in addition to Frosty Fox, I am also a sculptor.  My daughter, Bea, and I started making a few snoods as Christmas presents about ten years ago.

We then went on to sell them at the point to points, Badminton and Burghley Horse Trials plus Christmas fairs and markets. Bea also trains point to pointers for the Barrow Street Racing Club.

Frosty Fox now has several hundred variations of our products which includes Snoods, Doofers (lightweight snoods), Loop Snoods, Bud Hats, Face Masks and Hugmees (blankets that double up as cushions).

I have always had a keen interest in arts and craft, however, before having children I worked in health and social care. After the birth of my first child, I found the shift work involved in care just didn’t fit around my partners job as a Gamekeeper.

To fill my time, I turned out a very old sewing machine and started sewing, which is something I was taught as a child by my mum. I was bought a memory bear pattern as a gift and decided to make one for my daughter’s 1st birthday……well the rest is history. I was hooked and had a lot of interest from family and friends to make more. A few months later, as the nights were getting darker, I decided to teach myself to knit and within weeks I was taking orders for hats and headbands.

Over the last 3 years I have expanded to many other items including fleece lined sewn headbands and crocheted animal bunting, with new ideas being developed all the time.
