Lauren Nouvel
Bedford, Bedfordshire
My early life began in Brighton where I was born, where the sea views, pebbly beach and shells kindled my love of all things marine. Whilst studying jewellery design at Central Saint Martins College, I took a summer course in glass fusing and there began to combine the two disciplines to make sculptural glass and silver pieces of jewellery. Glass is the perfect medium with which to express the colourful beauty and fragility of coral reefs and marine life.
I now live in Bedfordshire and enjoy trips to my favourite English coastline in North Norfolk where I can do a spot of beach-combing on the white sands with my children. As well as glass jewellery, I now make larger, decorative glass items, and watercolours & drawings. I am always trying out new ideas and techniques in my kiln and at my bench, so watch this space.
